What changed

What to do now

Change 1

Hotfix 2 added more early Silver areas and more late-game Troilite areas.

Who should care
Players following Silver routes, Tadpole material prep, Scanner Station plans, or late-game Troilite farming.
What to do now
Use older best-route advice as a starting point, then check current map markers and in-game routes before committing to a long farm.
What to test again
The Silver guide needs a Hotfix 2 route pass; any Troilite scarcity claims need the same treatment before becoming durable advice.
Change 2

Hammerheads should no longer be as attracted to Tadpole lights.

Who should care
Tadpole pilots, players building Moonpools, and base builders seeing Hammerheads follow vehicles home.
What to do now
Check patch version before diagnosing Hammerhead behavior, and separate this light-attraction fix from broader creature balance.
What to test again
Tadpole, Moonpool, and no-weapons pages should mention that this fix is narrow and does not solve every predator-pressure complaint.
Change 3

Several vehicle, oxygen, multiplayer, crash, and Epic performance bugs were fixed.

Who should care
Players who saw Tadpole teleporting, infinite oxygen after vehicle death, late-region crashes, disconnect crashes, or Epic visual-setting performance issues.
What to do now
Update to Hotfix 2 before assuming a save, base, or co-op session is broken.
What to test again
Vehicle troubleshooting and co-op issue pages should confirm whether the player is actually on Hotfix 2 or later.
Change 4

Terms of Service and Privacy Policy wording changed, and players may see another acceptance prompt.

Who should care
Privacy-sensitive players, creators, streamers, modders, Linux/Proton users, and fan-site operators.
What to do now
Use the official policy FAQ, Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Fan Content Creation Guidelines for current wording.
What to test again
Policy explainers should cite Hotfix 2 and the official policy pages, not only launch-week community discussion.

What Hotfix 2 changed

Hotfix 2 is still a small Early Access patch, but it matters more to ordinary play than Hotfix 1 did. Unknown Worlds added more Silver resource areas in the early-game region, added more Troilite resource areas in the late-game region, adjusted Hammerhead behavior around Tadpole lights, and fixed several vehicle, multiplayer, crash, and performance issues.

Early crafting should be a little less bottlenecked, and parked or docked Tadpoles should be less likely to turn into Hammerhead magnets. This is not a content expansion, and it does not replace the larger creature-balance work promised in the community letter.

Silver and Troilite routes need a recheck

The official note says Silver now has more early-game resource areas. That affects beginner advice, Moonpool/Tadpole preparation, and early wiring-kit style crafting routes that previously treated Silver as the main slowdown.

Do not rely on launch-week Silver routes without retesting them. Hotfix 2 may have added easier nearby alternatives, so the Silver guide should be rechecked against the current build before it promises a single best route.

Troilite also received more resource areas in the late-game region. That is less important for a brand-new player, but it matters for any route that was using scarcity as part of its difficulty estimate.

The Hammerhead fix is about Tadpole attraction, not all predator pressure

The most visible community discussion around Hotfix 2 is Hammerheads clustering around Tadpoles, Moonpools, and bases. Reddit threads show players reporting Hammerheads hanging around docked vehicles, following Tadpoles back home, or attacking parked vehicles long enough that it became a base-planning problem instead of a normal predator encounter.

Unknown Worlds’ fix is specific: Hammerheads should no longer be as attracted to Tadpole lights. The official note says the old behavior could make them follow players back to bases and hang around trying to reach the Tadpole.

Some hostile-creature complaints can still remain. The community letter still points to broader creature behavior, aggression timing, aggro range, defensive tools, and vehicle/base interactions as areas for ongoing tuning. Hotfix 2 is the first concrete pass on one narrow Hammerhead/Tadpole symptom.

Vehicle bugs and crashes are part of the practical patch

Hotfix 2 also fixes a few issues that can break a session more directly than balance:

  • Players could occasionally be teleported back to base while exploring in a Tadpole.
  • A player could get infinite oxygen after dying of hunger or thirst while piloting a Tadpole.
  • A crash could happen after losing connection from a multiplayer game.
  • A random crash could happen in the late-game region.
  • Epic visual settings should perform better.

Steam comments on the announcement show players checking the Tadpole teleport issue and the extra Silver spots. If a co-op group is still seeing disconnect crashes or platform-specific version mismatch, first confirm that every player is actually on Hotfix 2.

Policy wording changed, so expect another acceptance prompt

Hotfix 2 also implements changes to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Unknown Worlds says players will be prompted to re-accept because of the Terms of Service changes. The post also points players to a policy FAQ and Fan Content Creator Guidelines, and says analytics can be turned off from the settings menu.

The telemetry callout has one caveat: it is currently English-only and is planned to be translated in the next patch. That matters for non-English players because the setting may exist before the explanatory callout is localized.

Xbox rollout may lag behind PC

As with Hotfix 1, Unknown Worlds says the hotfix may take time to roll out worldwide and will be available on Xbox once it clears certification. Cross-platform co-op groups should not assume every platform receives the patch at the same moment.

If you are using a guide that depends on Hotfix 2 behavior, check the game version first. This is especially important for Tadpole/Hammerhead advice, Silver route advice, and multiplayer crash workarounds.
