  1. Official Early Access launch Check after updates
Community Letter Responds to Launch Feedback

The community letter addresses predator pressure, weak-feeling defensive tools, and how Subnautica 2 can stay non-combat while still feeling fair.

    What changed

The community letter reframed hostile-creature complaints as a defensive-tool and readability problem.

Expect tuning around fairness and feedback before expecting a traditional weapon-combat pivot.

Unknown Worlds named aggression timing, aggro range, flares, Survival Tool effectiveness, and vehicle/base interactions as tuning areas.

Keep extra safety margins and avoid writing permanent rules for creature behavior until those tuning patches land.

  2. Official Early Access Hotfix 1 Check after updates
Early Access Hotfix 1 Addresses Launch Issues

Hotfix 1 focuses on startup guidance, a Ping crash fix, analytics consent changes, and less backend data traffic.

    What changed

Hotfix 1 fixed launch-week startup, crash, analytics, and backend-data issues rather than adding new content.

Check the official hotfix note first if the game fails before the menu or if analytics consent is your main concern.

Terms of Service follow-up was promised in Hotfix 1 and later partly handled by Hotfix 2.

Use Hotfix 1 for the first analytics-consent change, but use Hotfix 2 and the policy FAQ for the newer policy state.

  3. Official Early Access launch Check after updates
Early Access Roadmap Sets the Update Rhythm

The first Early Access roadmap tells players what to expect next: quality-of-life fixes first, co-op improvements after that, and larger world/story expansions later.

    What changed

EA 1.1 is framed as a quality-of-life pass for the current build.

Use current route advice carefully when it depends on these systems, and watch the next patch before writing permanent rules.

EA 1.2 is the co-op-focused update on the public roadmap.

Do not lock in current co-op advice as final; use launch pages for the current version and wait for EA 1.2 before making durable co-op guides.

  4. Official Early Access Hotfix 2 Check after updates
Hotfix 2 Makes Early Routes Less Punishing

Hotfix 2 adds more Silver and Troilite areas, tones down Hammerhead interest in Tadpole lights, fixes several vehicle and crash issues, and updates policy wording.

    What changed

Hotfix 2 added more early Silver areas and more late-game Troilite areas.

Use older best-route advice as a starting point, then check current map markers and in-game routes before committing to a long farm.

Hammerheads should no longer be as attracted to Tadpole lights.

Check patch version before diagnosing Hammerhead behavior, and separate this light-attraction fix from broader creature balance.

  5. Official Early Access launch Check after updates
    Subnautica 2 Early Access Released

Subnautica 2 is now playable in Early Access. Start now for exploration, base building, and co-op; wait if you want the finished 1.0 run.

    What changed

Subnautica 2 moved from pre-release speculation to a playable Early Access build.

Use this page for launch facts, then use the play-now-or-wait FAQ for the actual start-or-wait decision.

All route, map, co-op, and balance advice became build-sensitive after May 14, 2026.

Check last verified dates before trusting a guide, especially when a route involves resources, creatures, vehicles, or story pacing.
