Troilite is a rare-material problem before it is a route problem. If you turn every piece into Mangalloy Ingots or upgrades, you may have to wait for a verified replacement source before you can run a Metal Farm for more. Keep one Troilite aside until you know exactly how your Metal Farm setup works in the current build.
Check the crafting chain first
Open your current stations and confirm the live recipes before a long dive. The local export lists this chain:

This means the first Troilite decision is usually not “how many can I spend?” It is “which one do I keep back so the farm can make more later?”
Use Troilite only on the next blocker
The current export shows Troilite in several important recipes:
- Mangalloy Ingot
- Tadpole Depth Module Mk. 2
- Photovoltaic Charger
- Ultra High Capacity Air Tank
- Entangled Power Cell
Spend Troilite only when that craft unlocks the next real step in your save. If the choice is between a convenience upgrade and keeping one piece for Metal Farm setup, keep the reserve until you have tested the farm.
Gather the supporting materials
Before chasing more Troilite, prepare the pieces around it:
- Make or reserve a Titanium Ingot for Mangalloy Ingot.
- Use the map to scout Atacamite, because the current marker export does include Atacamite markers.
- Find Axum Bacterial Culture before building the Metal Farm.
- Check whether your save has the Processor, Builder Tool, and required blueprint unlocks.
Do not assume Troilite itself appears on the current site map. In this data check, Troilite, Metal Farm, and Axum Bacterial Culture did not appear as marker names in the exported map file.
Build and test one Metal Farm before scaling
Once you have the materials, build one Metal Farm and test it before spending extra rare resources. Confirm these points in your own save:
- Whether the farm needs a separate power connection.
- Which resource can be placed inside as the starter material.
- Whether a harvest tool such as Sonic Resonator or Feedback Resonator is required.
- Whether placement changes what the farm can produce.
- Whether the starter material remains available after production.
If any of those checks fails, stop before building more farms. Early Access behavior can change, and community reports disagree on placement, respawn, and production details.
Quick checklist
- Keep one Troilite in storage before crafting upgrades.
- Confirm the live Mangalloy Ingot recipe at your Processor.
- Reserve 1 Titanium Ingot, 1 Atacamite, and 1 Troilite for Mangalloy Ingot.
- Confirm the live Metal Farm recipe with the Builder Tool.
- Bring back Axum Bacterial Culture for the Metal Farm.
- Test one Metal Farm with a non-critical material first if possible.
- Only spend extra Troilite after the farm can reliably reproduce the material you need.
- Recheck every Troilite, Metal Farm, and respawn assumption after major patches.
